The early 90's was a musical and creative coming out party for me as I re-embraced top 40 once Nirvana woke up the industry. I started recording songs that were sounding more and more like actual singles and began to get involved in different causes. I started an underground magazine in Queens College called "The Web" (before the internet) with a comic artist from College Point named Kevin. Together we were the toxic avengers of campus, organizing a counter culture of artists and writers who were all outcasts from "traditional" journalism (eventually, I'll have a few issues up in the lunch box section). Kevin used it as a outlet for his brilliant comic art and I used it to interview 60's TV stars (audio & interviews coming soon) and get a sense of who the people were that had such an influence on my teen life. Believe me, you haven't lived till you've had George Jefferson call your house and ask your mom "Is Nik home?".

The rest of the 90's were spent working on political campaigns, writing for New York Newsday (thank you Joe Queen) and recording singles with my band "The Craze" (which I founded with rocker/ future monk Neven Pesa) (The Greatest Hits album is due out next year) and independent artist Declan Dwinell who has the ghost of Lennon (There is a man in Ridgewood who "channels" John Lennon's spirit. I'll fill you in on that soon in the lunch box section.)living inside him. I also became a temporary MTV generation shill by appearing on MTV, VH1 & Lifetime as a personality. By the end of the decade, I was running my own recording studio in NYC providing low cost recording for independent artists across the city.

In the 90's Media Player Of Finger Lickin' Chicken' you'll find some of the tracks you'd have heard coming from my walls. They are not always the biggest hits of the 90's..it's just the 90's choices of DJ Nik!
